Evidently the police don't like the idea that tasers could be available to the public. They think that it'd be too easy for some people to use them to subdue someone in just about any crime that was going to be committed. For example, you walk into a bank, taser a couple of people and then walk out with a bunch of cash. I think they also brought up the fact that tasers are a lot more effective in subdueing someone compared to a gun which may kill or just knick your subject. And, the police didn't like the idea about tasered in return when chasing bad guys. Maybe some people should compaign for the right to bear arms and tasers. There was a big debate about that here.
