Elk Park

On a recent trip to the UP here in Michigan, we stopped by the city of Gaylord for various reasons, one of which was to view the city-owned elk herd. Somehow, Gaylord has its own elks and they have a park where you can go watch them doing elk things. At least in theory you can watch them. We visited and walked up and down the fenceline and never saw any elk. But other people insist they are there and it’s not just a trick to get people to spend time in Gaylord.
Not being familiar with that particular area of Michigan, we relied on the maps on our phones. The Elk View Park was clearly marked, so we headed there.
As we pulled in the parking lot, it did not seem quite right.
It turns out that the location marked on our map was for elks, but for the Elks Lodge not the Elk View Park. The actual park for viewing elks (the moose-like animals) is at the south end of Elkview Drive. The parking lot for viewing Elks (the people in a fraternal organization) is at the north end. At least it was close and we could just drive a quarter mile or so down the road to be where we wanted to be.
And no, we didn’t see any of those Elks either.
Then Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, nor is this the city; follow me and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” And he brought them to Samaria.
