Bluegrass Vacation: Episode 3

Continued from last week.

Our drive home took about as long as our drive there, because we stopped a few times again.

I’ve been calling this series “Bluegrass Vacation” because Kentucky is the Bluegrass State. I didn’t know how serious they were about that until we were on the freeway and I saw the blue grass that made Kentucky famous:

That was just south of Cincinnati. I think this next photo is in Cincinnati, as seen from the freeway:

our first stop was for lunch in Dayton, where my 2nd-cousin-in-law and his wife work. Then we stopped by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Museum.

We spent a while inside the museum:

and less time outside the museum (it was hot and some people were tired of walking):

Back in the minivan, we drove for another hour before it was dinnertime. No photos from this stop, but it was at a Bob Evans – a vacation tradition that we started a couple years ago.

After another hour of driving, Delta was crying so much we caved in and stopped at a rest stop so he could eat. He didn’t really want to eat – he just didn’t like being in the car seat. But by that time, the other kids didn’t want to be in the van either, so we all got out and walked around the rest stop.

We finally got home around bedtime.

Conclusion

The main lesson the kids learned from the vacation: do not squeeze a container of yogurt.

The king and all the people who were with him arrived weary and he refreshed himself there.

  1. Ricky Anderson Says:

Are you a museum guy, too?

I could spend all day in a museum – it almost doesn’t matter the topic.

    Drives Jana nuts.

  2. Some Guy Says:

I can spend part of a day in a museum. I don’t think I qualify for the title of full-fledged museum guy.
