All-Haiku Bowl Predictions, 2021

Based on the popularity existence of last year’s article predicting bowl games in haiku form, I present to you this year’s all-haiku bowl game predictions. Still America’s only all-haiku college football bowl game predictions.

These are listed in order of date (earliest first). Some picks are whom I think will win, and some picks are whom I want to win. I’ll leave it to you, the reader, to decide which is which.

Dec. 17th

Bahamas Bowl
The teams are leaving
the country but they are not
leaving their time zone
Toledo over MTSU

Cure Bowl
NIU has won
infinitely more bowl games
than the Chanticleers.
NIU over Coastal Carolina

Dec. 18th

Boca Raton Bowl
I know better as
a Michigan fan than to
pick against App. St.
App St. over WKU

New Mexico Bowl
I would like to pick
Fresno State but their program
is in disarray.
UTEP over Fresno St.

Independence Bowl
After all these years,
this bowl finally features
an Independent.
BYU over UAB

LendingTree Bowl
It’s too bad that the
Liberty Flames can’t go to
the Liberty Bowl
EMU over Liberty

L.A. Bowl
LA already
has the Rose Bowl so how ’bout
the Inglewood Bowl
Oregon St. over Utah St.

New Orleans Bowl
Louisiana
has five more wins than Marshall.
Good luck to Marshall.
Louisiana over Marshall

Dec. 20th

Myrtle Beach
Now they’re letting just
about everyone into
a bowl game this year.
Tulsa over OD

Dec. 21st

Idaho Potato Bowl
This bowl game is back
where it belongs in the list –
on 12/21.
Wyoming over Kent St.

Frisco Bowl
I’m picking the team
whose school abbreviation
contains four letters.
UTSA over SDSU

Dec. 22nd

Armed Forces Bowl
Since there is only
one branch here, shouldn’t it be
the armed force bowl game?
Army over Missouri

Dec. 23rd

Frisco Classic
Now this is getting
to be quite ridiculous –
a single-use bowl.
N. Texas over Miami OH

Gasparilla Bowl
I’m not going to fall
into their trap of looking
up “Gasparilla”
Florida over UCF

Dec. 24th

Hawaii Bowl
Hawaii is back
to having a home bowl game.
Should fare well for them.
Memphis over Hawaii

Dec. 25th

Camellia Bowl
I’m not going to fall
into their trap of looking
up “Camellia”
Georgia St. over Ball St.

Dec. 27th

Quick Lane Bowl
Contrarian pick –
travel time should give Western
home field advantage.
WMU over Nevada

Military Bowl
Unlike the other
military bowl, this one
has no armed forces
BC over E. Carolina

Dec. 28th

Birmingham Bowl
Auburn lost their last
four games – I think they won’t turn
it around in time.
Houston over Auburn

First Responder
Why is Air Force here
and not Military Bowl?
These things make no sense.
Air Force over Louisville

Holiday Bowl
Why do they call it
Holiday Bowl when it’s not
on a holiday?
NC St. over UCLA

Liberty Bowl
Why didn’t this bowl
pick the Liberty Flames since
they have the same name?
Texas Tech over Mississippi St.

Guaranteed Rate Bowl
You don’t need to make
a Mountaineer out of a
Golden Gopher hill.
Minnesota over WVU

Dec. 29th

Fenway Bowl
So two southern teams
are playing outside up north
and in December?
SMU over Virginia

Pinstripe Bowl
Both are 6 and 6.
If this game ends in a tie,
that would be perfect.
VT over Maryland

Cheez-It Bowl
How many years can
the title sponsorship last?
Over/under: 4
Iowa St. over Clemson

Alamo Bowl
With two 10-win teams,
this could be a great bowl game…
if the Ducks show up.
Oregon over Oklahoma

Dec. 30th

Mayo Bowl
It’s disconcerting
to picture a mayo bowl –
bowl full of mayo.
UNC over S. Carolina

Music City Bowl
Purdue has lost its
big-name players for the draft.
I still think they win.
Purdue over Tennessee

Peach Bowl
I think this should be
a very good game to watch.
Two Heisman hopefuls.
Michigan St. over Pitt

Las Vegas Bowl
Both teams have no wins
in this bowl, but it’s the first
trip for Wisconsin.
Wisconsin over Arizona St.

Dec. 31st

Taxslayer Gator Bowl
They didn’t do well
the second half of the year.
They’ll make up for it.
Wake Forest over Texas AM

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl
Washington State will
be at a disadvantge
playing in the sun.
Washington St. over Miami FL

Go Cincinnati!
I’m hoping for the best here.
We’ll see how it goes.
Cincinnati over Alabama

Arizona Bowl
Not every school
has a unique enough name
for a TLA.
BSU over CMU

Orange Bowl
I hope Georgia won’t
be extra motivated
to prove themselves here.
Michigan over Georgia

Jan. 1st

Outback Bowl
Out in the Outback
a Razorback would outlast
a Nitt’ny Lion.
Penn St. over Arkansas

Citrus Bowl
I’m assuming that
Iowa can bounce back from
their most recent loss.
Iowa over Kentucky

Fiesta Bowl
I think Notre Dame
is going to want this one more.
Win one for the coach.
ND over Ok. St.

Rose Bowl
I’m picking Utah
because they’re the enemy
of my enemy.
Utah over Ohio St.

Sugar Bowl
Baylor’s already
beaten an 8th-ranked team so
they’ll handle one more.
Baylor over Mississippi

Jan. 4th

Texas Bowl
LSU’s program
is not doing well at all.
Better luck next year.
KSU over LSU

Jan. 10th

National Championship Game
This pick will not be
worth much if I got both the
semifinals wrong.
Michigan over Cincinnati

And that’s it for this year’s BCS and non-BCS bowl game predictions. Tune in later, about the second week of January, for the results show.

    really count as militar

    CMU that plays football,
    at least in Div 1.
