All-Haiku Bowl Predictions, 2012

Based on the popularity existence of last year’s article predicting bowl games in haiku form, I present to you this year’s all-haiku bowl game predictions. Still America’s only all-haiku college football bowl game predictions.

These are listed in order of date (earliest first). Some picks are whom I think will win, and some picks are whom I want to win. I’ll leave it to you, the reader, to decide which is which.

Dec. 15th

New Mexico Bowl
This bowl game moved up
two days this year – soon it will
be in November.
Arizona over Nevada

Famous Idaho Potato Bowl
The northernmost bowl.
And of these teams, Utah State
is the northernmore
Utah State over Toledo

Dec. 20th

Poinsettia Bowl
I prefer bowl games
with a descriptive name and
not a sponsor’s name
SDSU over BYU

Dec. 21st

Beef ‘O’Brady’s Bowl
It’s the third year for
this bowl and I don’t know who
Beef O’Brady’s is
UCF over Ball State

Dec. 22nd

New Orleans Bowl
Pirates versus the
Ragin’ Cajuns – should be fun
Both are ill-tempered
ULL over East Carolina

Las Vegas Bowl
Who would win with a
bronco versus a husky?
I’d pick the bronco.
Boise State over Washington

Dec. 24th

Hawaii Bowl
Neither team is close.
Home field advantage goes to
no one for this game.
Fresno State over SMU

Dec. 26th

Little Caesars Bowl
How do you convince
a team to go to Detroit?
It’s their first bowl game.
WKU over CMU

Dec. 27th

Military Bowl
Unlike the other
military bowl, this one
has no armed forces.
SJSU over Bowling Green

Belk Bowl
Lucky for Belk that
Duke is bowl-eligible.
It’s a local game.
Cincinnati over Duke

Holiday Bowl
Can Baylor play like
they did against Kansas State?
The Bruins hope not.
UCLA over Baylor

Dec. 28th

Independence Bowl
Ohio had quite
the winning streak but now
has a losing streak
Ohio over ULM

Russell Athletic Bowl
Rutgers has a chance
at winning because they are
not in the Big Ten
Rutgers over VT

Meineke Car Care Bowl
Now Minnesota,
on the other hand, is in
the Big Ten conference
Texas Tech over Minnesota

Dec. 30th

Armed Forces Bowl
A six-and-six team
versus another such team.
Someone has to win.
Air Force over Rice

Pinstripe Bowl
Heisman candidate
Geno Smith had a strong start
but can he end strong?
West Virginia over Syracuse

Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl
They can run the ball,
but Navy cannot pass well.
Tough triple-option.
Arizona State over Navy

Alamo Bowl
Beavers’ rush offense
against the Texas defense –
they are both ugly
Oregon State over Texas

Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
Neither team is what
it was a couple years back.
Players do matter.
TCU over Michigan State

Music City Bowl
Common opponent:
Tennesse – Vanderbilt won
but the Wolfpack lost

South Carolina
is not the same without their
starting running back
Michigan over South Carolina

Capital One Bowl
Nebraska tries to
erase their last Big Ten game
unsuccessfully
Georgia over Nebraska

Rose Bowl
Wisconsin won’t get
to put up 70 points
against Cardinal
Stanford over Wisconsin

Orange Bowl
I hope NIU
can play well without their coach
and show they belong
FSU over NIU

Sugar Bowl
I don’t want Louisville
to win, but I do want them
to play a good game
Florida over Louisville

Jan. 3rd

Fiesta Bowl
I think we should change
the name of this bowl game to
the Runner-Up Bowl
Kansas State over Oregon

Jan. 4th

Cotton Bowl
Maybe they need a
player called Johnny Defense
to balance the team.
Texas A&M over Oklahoma

Jan. 5th

BBVA Compass Bowl
It was quite tempting
to repeat the haiku from
the Armed Forces Bowl
Pittsburgh over Mississippi

Jan. 6th

GoDaddy.com Bowl
Do not watch this game.
Especially do not watch
their bad commercials
Arkansas State over Kent State

Jan. 7th

Cleverly-named National Championship Game Bowl
Who’s the quarterback?
There’s no Luck of the Irish.
Luck played for Stanford.
Notre Dame over Alabama
